My Reflection

My Reflection:

What I will use in the Future:
What I will definitely be using in the future is the blogs and the useful information about social media that we have covered in this course.  With not knowing much about blogs doing the blog assignment opened my eyes to what needs to be involved when putting a blog together but other than that I will be taking things from every area covered in this course for my future.

What part of the course I liked/disliked most:
The part of the course that I enjoyed most was the final assignment, the flash mob.  I had lots of fun doing it and you were able to advertising and do whatever you want for this assignment.  It allowed us to use our creativity and show how we wanted to do our flash mob.

The section of the course I didn’t really like was the commenting on blogs, there were a lot of posts and a lot of the time I felt like I was just posting just to get the number of comments higher to get a better mark.

What did I wanted to spend more time on:
I would have actually liked to spend some time in front of a computer where we can get a little more hands on experience in the classroom

How I liked the blended learning format:
As in a lot of other courses that are incorporating the blended learning, in some areas this is very useful like for online quizzes and all of that but if there were self-readings I would often find myself not reading it or not setting a time to go onto the power points and look at it if it’s not covered in class.

My Reflection on Web Marketing

My Reflection

My experience in this course has become very positive. I have to admit that my opinion of it in the beginning was very negative. I had taken the course before and I thought I knew what was coming but instead I came into class and realized that it had been changed into almost a completely different course. I was disappointed and frustrated because everything was so different. However as the course progressed I learned so much, and enjoyed it much, much more. The flashmob really inspired me the most. Not just that it was a fun time, but really realizing how creative you can be with advertising and promotions, and then to encounter it for myself was a huge learning experience, one which I wont forget.

I have never been a huge fan of blogs, I prefer to keep my personal life off of the Internet, but I realized the potential and its possible uses for businesses to create a blog in order to help with brand awareness.  I quite honestly do believe that I will be using everything in this course in the future, from the web design aspects to customer relationship management to lead generation, and to SEO.

The part of the course I liked the most was how it was a challenging experience, which got us out of the classroom and into the world, pushing us out of our comfort zones. The part of the course that I disliked the most would probably be the blog commenting, because you had to have a lot of comments to pass this section of the project. I would have like to spend more time on customer service and support, because that’s an area that I am very interested in.

Although it took me a while to get used to the blended learning format this year, I came to really appreciate the time I was able to not always have to be at the school. In summary, I like this style of the course much better than when I took it previously, and I had a lot of fun learning experiences as well.

REFLECTION

This course provided an excellent learning experience in the subject of online marketing. Classroom experience provided an informed overview of concepts and processes and involved hands-on experience at times.  In the future, I may be able to utilize what I have learned from this course in the marketing industry in my future career. This is useful knowledge for everyone to have. I enjoyed the unique project component of this course of creating a flash mob video which was a new experience for me. I personally would like to spend more time on more hands-on experience with software such as using social media tools in class.  I am not really a fan of blended learning and prefer face-to-face classes as opposed to online lectures.

Overall, a good course experience.

What I enjoyed most about this course what all the different types of online marketing that i didnt really know about before taking this course. It was really interesting to learn how to help a company improve there existing website, and what to pay attention to more and what not to. I think in the future I would most definately look back on my these slides and try and help or improve any company i'm working for to overall improve the website or any online marketing that they engage in.  I would of loved to spend more time creating more flash mob videos I thought they were interesting, and very interactive. The only issue I had was the blended learning I found it a extremely confusing and difficuly to use. Overall I really enjoyed this course and i'm sure i'll apply what i've learned from web marketing in the near future.

reflection.

what i liked about the course was the flash mob  what i disliked was commentating on the blog. i wanted to spend more time on analyzing websites. i dislike blended learning to begin with, so i really did not enjoy the blog component. the only thing that inspired me was the history of the world wide web.
Reflection

1:- What inspired you?

Ans: Over the course i learn so many things. like the difference between paid and organic ad in my blog report. how to use Google ad-word. and the most interesting one was QR code.

2:- What do you think you will use in the future?

Ans: Further in my future i will definitively use Google ad-word, the QR code, and i will analyze my business website

3:- What part of the course you like/dislike most?

Ans: I really like the flash mob marketing in this course. and blog posting, and yes brand evaluation. which was a new way to submit our reports. the thing i don't like was commenting and reading from book. i really want some practical work e.g making a QR code for company making a website etc like just the basics.

4:- What do you want to spend more time on?

Ans: I wanted to spend more time on how to analyze a website, the brand evaluation, i really like those topics. during first brand evaluation i missed that. but the second one i went to the city kidz office. me and Marianne found how they work their objectives.i was really interested in that. and when i was finishing my 2nd part i like doing all the task.

5:-How did you like the blended learning format?

Ans: I really don't like blended learning. face to face learning is more effective and interesting. i had experience blended learning in communication course and i learned nothing in that class because learning a new thing without instructor always distract me, it was hard for me to concentrate,  so unfortunately just because of blended learning i drop my course. so i like face to face learning more than blended learning.

Thank you

My Web Marketing experience was very good. I really enjoyed the material that was taught and I got a good understanding of how web marketing works. I loved learning about this and found it to be a big interest to me. This is also my first blog so it was a good experience learning how to use this just incase I need it in the future. The teacher was great and really informative on the information learned in class. I also loved the brand evaluation assignment. This was different from most assignments because we really got to break down the brand and website exactly like we learned it class. The one thing I can say I did not enjoy was the course information being all over different sites such as google docs, elearn, blogger. Overall, I really enjoyed this class and learned a lot.

Web Marketing Blog Reflection

From the beginning of semester I was expecting that from the “ Web Marketing class “  I was going to enhance my knowledge on the content and background material of the internet itself and learn how to create a valid webpage for consumers to look through and gain insight on a marketing project. After going through the course content I am happy to say that this course was a great experience for me to be a part of. I have learned many interesting things about the internet that I wouldn't ever be interested in learning. As a student on the internet every day I now search, and manage my way around websites in a different perspective. I notice the difference between SEO’s and PPC links, when logging in to any popular webpage that I visit, I notice that my personal username is saved and that’s because of cookies. The introduction of the internet and just little key facts is what I will be taking with me. I now understand what is going on behind closed doors and how the webpages track users for how the webpage is run and managed, it has opened the doors to want to now learn how to create, manage and perfect my own webpage for anything that comes to mind as an idea in the future.
The actual course myself, I enjoyed the content and the way it was taught. Our instructor was able to mix video with a touch of class work activities to make the class fun and exciting and then add content together so it wasn't just someone reading from the slides. Because this course was only two hours a week I did not experience any of the blended learning but it would have been nice to have. Something about this course that I would have preferred is the experience taught of actually working our way around the creation of a webpage and managing like it was our own. I looked forward to being on computers for some classes but was disappointed when I learned that there was a different game plan. Thoughts about the usage of this course in the future, it has given me knowledge and has educated me on a different topic and given me knowledge. What a school is supposed to provide.

Class Reflection

Hello everyone,

In all honesty I found this class a little hard to follow, simply because i thought the content was dry. I was unsure what the class entailed coming into it, I thought it was going to teach us how to further our knowledge with web marketing. Which it definitely did, but I felt like alot of the information I already knew, simply because I grew up when the Internet was on the come up.

Although Christina did help us with preparing for the assignments, projects as well as quizzes, I do appreciate that because it was of great help. Unfortunately the information just did not appeal to me.

I think having an upbeat teacher with a positive attitude inspired me the most. I think that there was several statistics that I was quite surprised about and this helped to get me thinking as well. I think the part of the course I was most disappointed in was the fact that there was not really much hands on opportunities, I would have like to learn more about literally creating a website and using the elements of design in that in a more hands on format.  I would have also liked to spend a little more time, in class, to edit our flash mob video. However the course had many useful concepts and there was a lot of information from this course that came in handy for other assignments. I do not like the blended learning format; I do not feel that I am getting the same quality of learning, I feel in class is a better way to learn compared to online.

Class Reflection

Hello Class,

Looking back at this class, there wasn’t one thing in particular that inspired me. It was just very interesting to learn that there is so many ways you can market yourself. And it was interesting to look at business who marketing their selves heavily from those who don’t. Of course I knew about web marketing because I have grown up with it but it was just fascinating to learn so much more than what I already knew. In the future I think I will use mobile marketing, it’s such a growing item and I think it useful for everyone from small business, to big corporate business to personal use. With all the social media and fancy apps, there really is everything at your finger tips to help you succeed and market yourself. I really liked the brand evaluation assignment, I felt that really got us to evaluate a brand and really see how they market or don’t market their business. I didn’t like all the little assignments we had to do, I felt if we had one big assignment to really look at how web marketing works it would have been more effective. The thing I would have loved to spend more time on is mobile marketing. I just find it so fascinating that cell phones are a huge part of everyday life and taking over a lot of things. I like the fact that there are so many different apps, pretty much an app for everything. I don’t like blending learning at all! I’m paying all this money for someone to teach me and I get half being taught and half online. If I wanted to be taught online I would take an online course. I’m more of a hands on person so I prefer examples and visual items to help me learn, I like being in class and asking the teacher a direct questions and not waiting for an email.
Thank you very much Christina for all your insightful knowledge!

Thank you,

What inspired you?
While writing this I must admit I am listening to my favourite song (Little Mermaid - Under the Sea) which is very inspiring! However, during the course, I found the magnitude of social media and how much it effects business very very interesting.  Makes you feel small, just like when you stand beside the ocean.  Very nice to put yourself back into perspective.
What did you want to spend more time on?
Definitely spent a lot of time on the Flash mob, and those crazy brand evaluations. Must admit even though it will probably sell me out a bit especially if Christina reads this, but I did not do the evaluations week by week but left them to the last two weeks and then it was crunch time.
How did you like the blended learning format?
I absolutely, positively and completely thought that the blended learning was a fantastic waste of time.  I learn best from face to face interactions.  For some strange reason I need to occupy my attention in many different angles at the same time to retain more information.  Whether its completing essays in the food court at the mall to stimulate my mind better, or sitting in a classroom looking distracted but paying full attention to the lecture.
What do you think you will you use in the future?
I will definitely use the information of SEO and PPC in the future I am sure.  If not the creative ways to use QR codes and social media platforms!!!
What part of the course did you like/dislike most?
Not a huge fan of the 31 comments on the blogs, would have preferred a class blog that was continuous and in response to each lesson.  Feel like it would have been more productive as most of those blogs were covered in the course content by the superb professor.

Definitely liked the teachers efforts in making such a dry and painful content a bit more enjoyable.  Reading the text book was very similar to receiving a massage with sand paper. Quite painful but it does exfoliate the skin a bit and help you dig deeper to reveal something new and help you grow with it.  The classes brought light to what I may have dozed off to while reading the text book.  She did a great job of trying to make things better and I quite enjoyed her examples.  One that stood out the most was the YouTube she found that was innovative and went outside the regular box to become interactive.

Thanks
Donald

Final Assignment Reflection

Throughout the course I have learned many forms of online marketing and ways to blog effectively. Through blogging and communicating with others online I can absorb new information as well as opinions from comments and forums. I feel as if web marketing is the future of marketing and more and more businesses should get involved.  For our video, we chose to pick a very popular trend right now, which is awareness of prostate cancer in men via Movember.  Our video essentially is an informational video, which is letting the viewers know about an event called the “Stache Bash”.  I learned through this assignment, that time management and figuring out when to actually work on the project, is half the battle. Everyone is very busy with his or her own work and it was very hard to effectively manage everyone.  One of the things I wish the group had done is start earlier on in the semester, rather than the last 3 weeks of it.  Easily, the most rewarding part of this assignment was seeing the finished product and everything we had accomplished.

The only thing i would like to see different for this class is the use of more computer time. With this class being a web marketing class, more work should have been done on the internet, or maybe mobile devices.

Aside from that, I learned a lot of invaluable information in this course, which will definitely help with marketing in the future.

Reflecting

During this semester I learned so much valuable information. As a marketer in the 21st century I would say this class is the most valuable. It provides so much helpful marketing information that I used to just ignore. I am now able to see the internet as a valuable tool instead of a way to pass time. However with that being said the class being the only class we had on a friday, we did tend to see attendance drop. In the future, since this is a "WEB" class, Maybe we should have more classes incorporate the use of the internet. I am sure blended learning will benefit this course. My favourite aspect of this course would have to be the blog post's. This portion allowed me to learn different aspects of the material from different points of view. I also really enjoyed learning about brand evaluation. This will be particularly useful for future employment opportunities. I will be able to evaluate a business better and provide more accurate insight into possible areas of improvement. Thank you Christina for the time you gave to us in order to give us the best learning experience possible.

Good luck to everyone with the final as well as flash mob presentations!

David

Reflection from Marianne Schoeman

Self-Reflection and its' rewards

When I began this course I must admit I was apprehensive. The concept of learning about topics that were already somewhat familiar seemed like an inefficient use of my college time. I was skeptical about the course material, confused with the concept of the flash mob and didn’t quite understand the value of the class blog.

As I progressed throughout this course, I came to witness an evolving of my understanding of the different types of internet marketing. I bore witness to the possibility that I, in my short-sightedness had not entered into this course with an open mind. Each student was given a topic to write about, research and convey into an articulate, entertaining and informative post and there were some wonderful results. I enjoyed the interaction with my classmates, and I really responded to the instructions for assignments being neatly organized on our class blog home page. The structure was helpful in aiding to my want to be proactive, and allowed me to submit several assignments early. Despite my skepticism, I have come to a new level of awareness in understanding how my knowledge level of blog writing and commenting can further my future career.

I’m very glad I took this course, and I hope that it continues to be offered at Mohawk College, so that other future students can experience the same epiphany. In the future I will make also make a conscious effort to be more open-minded.

Refelection Post

Over the semester this web marketing class has taught me a lot of information. It has influenced me to be more aware of the online marketing tactics. I am better able to see past biased information pushed at me from search engines. In the future I could use the information learned over the course of this semester to help me market online or protect myself from gimmicks. I have gained a lot of appreciation for all the hard work and consideration that goes into online marketing in order for companies to be successful. The process of building and maintaining a brand image was my favorite part of the course, as I found it to be the most important. I would have liked to spend more time on the branding side, and learn additional information on how to project the brand image that will reap the best results. Other than that I feel I have finished this course with a lot more information than I came in with. The blended learning format is still new to me and I remain indifferent on the idea. I like the benefits of both the blended learning format and in class to both have there pros and cons. I would like to thank all the class mates and Christine for helping me learn new information. I don't know if this will be the last blog I post, but I will definetly be reading more in the future with a better appreciation.

Good luck everyone on your final exams!

Mirror Post

What inspired you?
What inspired me the most was the lack of Web Marketing efforts most companies put in as I realized through the chapters of the complexities requires. You’re probably wondering, why this would inspire me? It inspires me because I see a gap in that market and gives me even more hope for a Marketing Career in my future; which is what I want!!
What do you think you will you use in the future?
The B2B Lead Generation and CRM most definitely, as that is the market I want to be in. It’s where the big bucks are at!
What part of the course did you like/dislike most?
I like the fact that due to my technical background, I was able to understand most of the terminology presented. I disliked the amount of information presented. There is A LOT to learn with way too many chapters for this to be one course.
What did you want to spend more time on?
I would have loved to spend more time on mobile marketing as I believe that’s where the future is. More and more people are using hand held devices and everyday there is a lot more we as marketers can do with it.
How did you like the blended learning format?
The blended format was alright. I rather have things explained to me where I can ask questions then and there to clarify things, but online was kind of good as it’s doable from the comfort of your own home and own time. And by comfort of your own home I mean being able to be distracted oh so very easily.

Time To Reflect.

Looking back on Web Marketing class, Id have to say I enjoyed learning about how marketing ties to the internet. I think it is extremely important for our class to learn the ins and outs, especially being in part of this generation. This class was pact with content, and some very useful information, that will help us in the work force. My favourite topics were Branding and SEO. I find these topics fascinating and cannot wait to use what I have learned from this class in the future. The only thing I would change about this class; make it 1 or 1.5 hours twice a week. As fresh and exciting as she could, our teacher Christina, helped out with the dreaded 2 hour class on FRIDAY! but you can only make a 2 hour class so tolerable. There was alot of information to cover in 2 hours which made the class feel like a lifetime. Christina did a great job of trying to break it up with videos and examples, but i still think the class would have been better executed and better attended if it were split during the week.Thankfully Christina's bubbly teaching stlye and our exciting peers kept it interesting as the weeks went on. All in all this class was very informative and opened our eyes to the world of internet. After taking this class I feel more confident with the idea of marketing on the internet and how to make it work for your company. Thank you to my classmates and to Christina for making this class a good one.

Ps. Can't wait to see everyone's Flash Mob Videos :D

Reflection Post

As this course was to be taught in a new blended-learning format, I went into it with little expectations and knowledge of the 'Web Marketing' topic as a whole. I enjoyed the idea of not only the professor teaching the basics, but also the students' blogs reinforcing the concepts as we progressed through the semester. It definitely provided helpful insight and shed light onto notions in which I was previous unfamiliar to.

The only thing that I dislike - and it has to do with a broader sense than just this course alone - is the idea of group work in post secondary education. I understand this is of no fault to the faculty, and I hope my peers take no offence to this, but paying $6,000+ a year to attend school just to have to rely on others to obtain a mark is a concept that will never make sense to me. I would be open to someone trying to explain to me how group work is a fair assessment of ones knowledge of a concept.

In closing, I'd like to thank you Christina for the plethora of knowledge you've provided for us. I look forward to seeing what you have to share with us next semester!

Thanks again,
Jordan

Class Reflection

Hello Everyone!

This class gave us great insight into the world of Web Marketing. As Christina stated in her post, Web marketing is not a separate compartment to Marketing. If done effectively, it should be integrated into every aspect of your campaign!
If there was one thing I took away from this class it is this, "If you are not ready to fully engage in your online marketing efforts, do not bother at all." As future marketers, it is very important for us to understand that web marketing is not just as simple as creating a web page or creating a page on a social media platform. You MUST continuously update and get involved with your consumers. Make your online efforts fun and interactive to ensure effectiveness.
One thing I was really hoping for was to have the opportunity to make a website. I feel that it would have put the whole course into perspective in a more hands on way. Maybe some time spent in a computer lab where we could have gone through demonstrations together as a class would be something to think about for future semesters.
Overall I enjoyed this class. Although it was heavy on content, it was all very important for us as future marketers to know. I would like to thank Christina for teaching us this semester. You have given us a great deal of important information in ways we will understand, for example using real-world examples in your lectures. I look forward to taking Market Research with you in the Winter Semester!

Reflection Post

Hello Everyone,

Looking back on this course I have realized that it was beneficial to a certain extent. I did like our teacher Christina she was able to make the content a little more interesting and up-beat which made me want to go to class and listen. I felt the content in the course should be looked over again and reevaluated because initially I thought we going to be on the computers considering its called "web marketing" but the course was more based on marketing on huge search engines like Google we also touch allot on mobile marketing and how big its becoming etc. I would like to in the near future if the course can provide computers and the class actually has to create a website and be able to market it. I think that would be a huge asset to the course as well give the class something really cool to work on. Over all the course did provide allot of good information and \I was able to get a better understanding how a blog works which is pretty cool now that I think about it. I hope I am able to continue blogging to others about various different topics. Christina is very knowledgeable and seems to be have allot experience in the course which was a huge benefit to all the students who had no idea about many things in the content, myself being one of them. In conclusion, the course should be reviewed and changed just a tad to focus more on the websites and how to market on them. In saying that there was much content that was informing and I am glad I was able to be apart of that. Thanks to Christina. I enjoyed the semester with you guys and am looking forward to see you guys next semester. Good Luck for those I will not see!

My reflection...from your instructor

Hello everyone!

I thought this would be a great place to share my insights on this semester with you, as you are sharing your insights with me.

I have thoroughly enjoyed teaching you this semester. This was the first time the web marketing course was delivered in a blended format and I hope you found your "practice" assignments helpful. My goal is always to help prepare you with information and tasks that you might need to perform when you get out in the working world.

As a class, I found you to be interested and engaged which is much appreciated. You were able to work through class activities with a positive attitude and demonstrated a clear understanding of the material. I will be reading each of your posts carefully for your feedback so I can make adjustments for next semester. I know that some of the content may be different than expected, but I hope you can now see how marketing on the web isn't at all a separate task...it is well integrated into everything you will do in your future.

As you leave this course, I hope you understand the value of having a strong and trusted brand online. I suggest you create your own brand online by creating unique, interactive online resumes showcasing the work you have done in our class. Your flash mob assignment is an excellent portfolio piece that demonstrates understanding from end-to-end - from concept through to execution. I can't wait to see you finished marketing videos!

I look forward to working with each of you next semester in Market Research (where you will again create an excellent portfolio piece to showcase on your online resume)!

Sincerely,
Christina

Reflection Post

Upon starting the semester I had a very rough idea of what the program might entail, but as we’ve worked through the course I have been introduced to a wealth of new information. I held very limited knowledge in all aspects of the workings of the internet, whereas I now have a level of understanding to just how versatile and powerful the internet truly is. Upon reflection, I have been inspired through learning so many new terms and operations which are considered basics of the internet, for example SEO, Landing pages and the complexities of Branding on the web. As we head towards our final exams I am content with the range of topics we have covered, and although I am unsure as to what my career will be I am sure parts of the knowledge I have gained from this semester will be put to good use.
I do feel however the replacement of building a website with the planning of a flash mob, to be a little unproductive. I believe learning the basics of website development would be much more beneficial to students, compared to the planning and execution of a flash mob. During the planning stages of our flash mob I found the use of the Googledoc to be slightly ineffective, which was mainly due to working and communicating with my team members every day of the week. This resulted in communication between group members being either face to face, or via cell phone when away from school which made the Googledoc almost redundant.
I would have liked to have spent some more time during the course on the subject of Branding, with the hope of delving a little deeper into just how a successful brand is created, managed and communicated to consumers. With this semester being our first to incorporate the blended learning aspect I have found it to be quite successful, although I would personally not like an increase in the amount of blended learning we receive in future semesters as my learning style is suited to the classroom environment. As an overall I have learnt a lot from this program, and now feel better positioned to use the internet in a much more productive manner when needed hopefully within my career.

Cheers
John

Mobile Marketing -101

What is one of the first things most people do when they wake up? check the newspaper? drink coffee? fullfil natures call? Well yes, but if you guessed check your cell phone, then you're right. Now a days, 74% of Canadians and over 103% of Americans use cell phones. Everything from texting and calling to on-line shopping and paying bills, can be done from your own personal portable computer. With this ever increasing trend of cell phone users and applications, its a surprise that every company hasn't started to mainstream marketing via mobile devices.  With over 89% of the North American population using cell phones, it would only seem like a no brainer. But which methods should these companies employ?

Many companies have used the tried and true method of SMS marketing. Basically what this is, is a company will send out a mass text message to all the recipients in its catalogue and send information about:
  • Social media mobile advertising
  • Mobile display ads
  • Mobile landing pages with promotions
  • Coupons
  • Sweepstakes
  • Location-targeted advertising (See image above)
With location based advertising, a local restaurant, where you filled out a short survey after a meal and relinquished your cell phone number, can now send you text messages about new deals and coupons that would entice you to go back there to eat.

This is not only limited to restaurants, but almost any company offering products and services for consumer use. Anything from department stores "buy on get one free" sales, to lawyers fighting your speeding tickets, in the forms of text messages or mobile ads, can be accessed from cell phones.  Two of the most popular forms of mobile marketing are:

SMS marketing

Beginning in Europe and Asia in the early years of the millennium, this form of mobile advertising became extremely popular very fast. With most people, being glued to their mobile devices, companies can ensure their messages are read fast, meaning a high conversion rate.  Unlike other means of advertising, text messaging is relatively cheap, when compared to mainstream advertising tactics, such as billboards, fliers,  emails, etc. Several billion texts are sent out all over the globe every month as more and more people have access to cell phones.

Multimedia messages

Instead of just sending you plain text message, or a link, some companies opt to send pictures, short videos or audio files.  Companies are able to send rich content straight to your cell phone. Seeing a picture of a fresh baked donut is much more impressive than reading it and trying to picture it ourselves. With humans being very visual, this is a great treat for the senses.

Other areas of mention, are ads within applications. Have you ever noticed when using almost any application now a days, there are little ads everywhere? Whether you're checking the weather, playing Angry Birds or using Facebook, there are ads everywhere. Some become annoying and irritate consumers, as they impede your access of the application.  But with careful ad placement and usage, advertising can greatly help any company and is a sure fire way to get your name out there!

The Future of Mobile Marketing

Watch this and think about it ……..

 Exactly ……

Every minute of every day, more and more companies are beginning to realize that even through banners on the side of the highway, or an advertisement on TV in the middle of a family’s dinner are effective but the population of people that are constantly on the move and have a mobile device or smart phone attached as a second leg is rapidly growing. It is becoming more common to send out mass text messages informing people of new deals at a consumers favourite retail stores or sending out mass coupons for more consumers to want to buy from ones store.
As teens become more glued to social media sites and posting information about themselves and their hobbies, single parents on all of the hundreds of dating websites and family connecting through Facebook, all personal information is lingering out there for stores, and advertising agencies and data companies to pick through and find the best deal that will relate to a certain consumer. From there they send out a text, a tweet, or a post on Facebook, for consumers to get this information through their smartphones and off they go to a retailer to take advantage and purchase. With mobile marketing being the most cost effective to use and the most flexible, it is becoming the most dependable when getting a brand name to be recognized by consumers.
The future can only see benefits, technology is growing and as stated in the video it can only get more personal for the consumer, to a point where making a grocery list isn't needed because you’ll have your phone already doing it for you. With mobile apps having adds already placed in them, simply with one touch of a finger and you are at a retailer’s main website making a purchase with a credit card of some sort. The present has consumers paying for movie passes, scanning bar codes which gather store information and connecting with businesses on a personal basis as consumers. If right now they have all this, you can only imagine what the future holds for the world. Mobile marketing is growing and for companies to take advantage can really have a positive effect on profits and future stability.

The future of mobile marketing …… it’s already here.

Mobile Marketing - Who is Doing it Well?

Mobile Marketing - Who is Doing it Well?

When it comes to our everyday lives, there is no denying that we are connected to our mobile devices from the minute we wake up until the minute we set them aside to charge and settle into bed. The mobile future is definitely here and it is looking very much like it is at the center of how people do things and will continue to do things in the future.

Mobile technology today enables new ways of expressing our existing brand ideas and as well enables marketers to explore new approaches. Marketers must make content exciting for users to actively engage in the content and more importantly, to encourage them to want to interact with the brand on more than one occasion. By satisfying and engaging with customers, company brands have more opportunity than ever before to generate lasting and meaningful relationships.

The video posted below demonstrates multiple prime examples of popular and also effective ways of mobile advertising.

Many brands today aim to demonstrate and launch their mobile ad campaign in hopes of targeting their consumer market in a relate-able way. For example, the 'Estee Lauder' make-up company (shown in the video above) is advertising a new product that wipes away noticeable face wrinkles. They came up with a great idea for their mobile advertisement campaign by including a basic interactive game in their ad which requires the targeted consumer to physically wipe away wrinkles on their mobile touch screen. By doing so, they hope the consumer will then gain the feeling of as though this new wrinkle cover up product will work as easily in real life as it did on their phone.

There are many different types of mobile marketing ad campaigns but the most common type is the generic ad banners. Below is a basic example of an ad banner that most of us see on a daily basis while browsing our free mobile apps.

I have highlighted the McDonalds banner ad in the image above as this is a great example of your basic, yet effective, mobile ad banner. McDonalds has chosen to run an ad banner involving their breakfast menu which is a great marketing idea as most people check their weather apps at the beginning (breakfast hours) of each day.

Many big name companies are aiming to stay up to date and fresh with their mobile ad campaigns. Listed below are a couple of short short video examples of successful company attempts at mobile advertising.

Starbucks

This video shows the Starbucks Cup Magic app that allows a consumer to send and receive virtual Valentine messages. By scanning one of their limited edition Valentine's Day themed cups, you can then watch your cup 'come to life'. You can also use it to send a Starbucks Card eGift as well. According to Starbucks, there have been over 42 million mobile transactions to date.

McDonalds

McDonald successfully came up with a way to grab the attention of Swedan people with Pick ‘N Play. This game application became a true example of interactive marketing by combining billboard advertisement with mobile marketing. This was a very successful attempt at creating a new and interesting way to attract customers to their restaurants.

After researching mobile marketing, the message is clear. Mobile is here to stay. It has become a norm of society and is leading us to creating a whole world of possibilities, many of which are still unknown and untapped. But with that being said, brands must tread carefully to not bombard their target markets with ads as the very last thing they want is to have their ads viewed as your generic online spam.
